Here in Albany, many home and families have been affected by a tornado that swept through our city late January. Due to the various degrees of damage many have experienced, the staff at Modern Gas has been getting a lot of questions as far as repairing or replacing their fireplaces and other appliances. We are ready to do everything we can to get your home back to where it used to be!
Replacing Your Vent Pipe
One inquiry we have received a lot is in regards to pre-fabricated fireplaces and the parts that come with them. We’ve had many homeowners come in looking for new vent pipes to replace their missing or damaged ones. While we would love to set our customers up with the part they need, these are not always so easy to come by.
When it comes to vent pipes, they must be approved by the Underwriters Laboratories, or the UL. The UL is an organization that sets safety standards on countless products and merchandise and is well-esteemed throughout the world.
One of the regulations set in place by the UL is that vent pipes cannot be retrofitted. The vent pipe has to come from the original manufacturer that designed it for your specific fireplace. If the company is no longer in business, then we cannot provide you with a pipe made for a different brand or model.
